I had an amazing conversation with Leo Tucker, first Black Managing Partner at Northwestern Mutual, a Fortune 500 company that provides a wide range of financial services to more than 4.5 million people. One of the gems I took away was that the Black community needs a mindset change in many ways. Our cultural habits need shifting - and mostly where thinking LONG-TERM OVER SHORT-TERM is concerned.

Our mindset is the starting point for the goal of Black financial prosperity in the United States.

SELF-LOVE is also key.

There is a dire need of conquering fear where money is concerned. It's understandable that many of us in the Black community are jaded and oftentimes feel defeated while so many traps exist in lower income communities - such as pay day cash loan businesses. Traps that wear and tear on the spirit of abundance that grants cash flow the ability to thrive and grow.

Mr. Tucker pointed out much needed gems about how we should view and prioritize our financial goals.
